JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)-Region 8 women have an opportunity to get all the testing they need done in one place at one time.
The Cardiology Associates Foundation and the Clopton Clinic Charitable Foundation are hosting the seventh annual women’s health conference.
From eight until ten, women are invited to drop in at the Southwest Church of Christ on Saturday, May 12th.
A variety of different screenings and tests will be available.
Chairman of the Education Committee for the Cardiology Associates, Mary Jackson, says they’ll be testing such things as blood sugar, cholesterol, EKG’s, mammograms, osteoporosis, and even fitness.
Jackson says they continue to hold this event because it’s something people really need but don’t often do.
“A lot of people don’t have insurance or are under insured. This gives everyone a chance to get these screenings done. It’s very important to know about your heart health or diabetes or other areas of your health. It’s very important, that they might not know otherwise if we didn’t offer it as a free service.”
Jackson says individuals ignoring their health is a problem she and fellow co workers have noticed over the years.
“Many people just put off and put off because they have so many other things to do, expense or other reasons. This gives everyone the opportunity to come out and get things taken care of. And in the meantime, maybe we can catch something, if there is something to catch, and take care of it before it gets out of hand and help people to have a better lifestyle.”
In addition to the screenings, they will be offering a couple of break out sessions on items that might interest women only.
